BACKSTORY

Ruby was and still is a reporter of the Acme Times before the meteor struck Acmetropolis. After the meteor, Ruby noticed that certain individuals gained superpowers. Most of these were Toons, but a precious few were humans as well, including Ruby herself. This made Ruby curious, and secretly she began a search for a pattern between those 'infected' from the meteor and those who are not. Her search resulted in a special strand in Toon DNA that made them gain powers, even humans that have only a tiny sliver of Toon DNA were given powers, but to a lesser extend than the full blood Toons. During her investigating, Ruby came into the acquaintance of Zadavia as she was rounding up the original Loonatics. Ruby denied being a part of the group, amusing herself with the idea that they should come to her instead and that she wanted to play a more anti-hero role for the fun of it.
A few years later, Ruby notices that she is in line of Bugs Bunny (the strand of Toon DNA needed for her to have effects from the meteor) and that Ace is closer to her lineage than Lexi (Ace and Lexi share an equal lineage to Bugs Bunny). Ruby sets out to meet Ace in the most unorthodox way ever (making sure she arrives at a crime scene before the Loonatics on the slim hope that Ace will follow her) but it works out. Ruby becomes an outside source for the Loonatics, but only really has contact with Ace on a near daily basis, forming a more brother-sister bond with him.
