Another Short Story Based on Ascension

“Isn't it just fabulous honey?” my father asked, holding the old and dirt caked dagger in front of me.
“I guess so...” I agreed, not sure what he wanted to me to see in the old thing.
“Hold it.” he then suggested, nearly jamming the thing in front of my face. I recoiled in defense.
“Do I have to?” I asked, unsure of why my father had become to hell bent on showing me the old dagger. In response, my father held the dagger even closer to me with a sad, puppy like look.
Damn it Dad...
Rolling my eyes, I carefully took the dagger. Within a split second, I nearly let go of it.
“Honey!” my dad said in surprise and concern. “Are you alright?”
I didn't know if I was or not. I put both hands on my head and slowly sank to the ground. My head of pounding out of my skull. I didn't like it. It was scaring me...
My father carelessly tossed the dagger a few inches away from us and began to cradle me in his arms. I was scaring him too. My face had gotten pale quickly. And my father had thought that... that my eyes had glowed.
Later that night, I couldn't go to sleep. I lay awake thinking about that dagger. Soon enough, I got up out of my bed and went downstairs to the room Dad kept the stuff he found on his expeditions. The dagger wasn't in a glass case yet, it just lay on his desk. There was a note next to it, but I didn't care to read it. The dagger was my only priority right now. Nothing else mattered.
Slowly, I took the dagger by both hands. Almost instantly after, my head started to pound in a fit to get out of my skull as pictures, very vivid ones at that, started to play in my head like an HD movie. I lost track of time as the pictures started to go from bad to worse for the same characters it seemed. Then suddenly, I let go. My head felt so horrible I couldn't see straight for another five minutes. But there was a name. There a name etched in my brain after seeing those pictures fly through my mind.
