Literature Text

-Flower (female) and Wood (male) fairies have come to a tournament of sorts that involves a dance/tai chi sort of approach in battling

-The head of each face off against each other; the head flower fairy almost wins, as an attack from the head wood fairy is blocked by his son (or understudy) toward the head flower fairy- she then comments on this (possibly as an accusation toward infatuation) that causes the son/understudy to blush in embarrassment

-Something happens to the head flower fairy and it was implied that she died

-Far away, a girl (between 5-10) is crying hysterically; her sister (or adoptive mother/caretaker) doesn't know why she is crying, but soothes the girl by letting her hold on to her wet hair (the caretaker just finished taking a shower, and wet hair is a soothing trigger for the girl). With the girl calmed down, they go (with the caretaker holding the girl) to look for a -IhavenoideawhatwordIwroteherebutitlookslike vent- the two can explore.

-The two go to a flower shop where the caretaker lets the child explore freely

-A bad dog alarm (or siren) goes off, making the two go downstairs. The girl does not sit down, but is aware of why the drill is held and that she must remain silent

-The girl may be hinted to have autism, but she is also connected to the fairies in some way
-She may have been the new queen if anything happened to the current one
This is actually several months old (maybe around March, as I was in a florist shop around the time), but I was reminded of something recently and I felt like putting this here. I wrote what I could remember down on a notebook the night after having the dream. It kind of reminds me of the plot/aesthetic for Epic (which I saw years ago) and Strange Magic (which I haven't seen, but it was all over Tumblr several months before, I think).

Another interesting thing that my subconscious could have been sorting out is the term changeling. A child of fae origins that was changed a birth with a human child. Most of its term was to describe folks who showed signs of mental disabilities, thus the girl's autism being linked to the head flower fairy's apparent death and her role to take its place. I'm quite fond of the term, and the history behind it- so there's that.
I also like Julie Hearn's Merrybegot (The Minister's Daughter, as I know it in America) which gives the term merrybegot as a child conceived on May morning, and one of nature's own, which would also explain the girl's connection to the fairies.
